Levi Foundation

The Ugo and Olga Levi Foundation was set up in 1962 thanks to a donation by Ugo Levi in tribute to his wife Olga Brunner and in memory of their shared passion for music studies. The Levi were a rich Venetian bourgeoisie family in the 1800s and 1900s, engaged in finance. The Foundation is based in Palazzo Giustinian Lolin on the Canal Grande, an early work by Baldassarre Longhena (1630). The Foundation is involved in important musicological research and studies, hosting international scholars from around the world.

Alongside its interest in Venetian culture and musical traditions, the Levi Foundation is also engaged in the study of specific issues related to the Mediterranean area. There is a library and a collection of musical instruments for historical studies of music from all countries, of all periods, forms and trends.

In addition to important seminars, the Levi Foundation also organises musical evenings and concerts ranging from jazz to classical, ethnic and contemporary music, with initiatives aimed at arousing an interest in music in children.
