Palazzo Sagredo, in Santa Sofia on the Canal Grande, has a pre-Gothic first floor and early 1400s noble floor. The Sagredo family bought the building in the 1600s from a branch of the Morosini family (hence its alternative name, Palazzo Morosini Sagredo).

The façade facing the square was rebuilt in the 1700s and today has a row of round arched windows.
Palazzo Sagredo is today best known for its interior decoration: the staircase with its three flights by Tirali (1718-38) was decorated with frescoes by Pietro Longhi (the spectacular Fall of the Giants). The artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo had good relations with the Sagredo family and so painted many works in the palace from 1738 onwards, though all but one of these have since been lost.

Some of the rooms on the mezzanine floor started to be used as a casino in the early 1700s. These were decorated by Stazio in 1718 with some fine stucco work in the Regency style. The original ornamentation of the Stanza dell'Alcova (Room of Alcoves) is now held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The palace became a hotel in 2002.
